NSI-189 is being investigated for treating major depressive disorder (MDD), bipolar depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and cognitive disorders. Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials for MDD, showing promising results in reducing depressive symptoms and improving cognitive function it promotes neurogenesis in the hippocampus and subventricular zone, independent of monoamine reuptake pathway. NSI-189 exhibits antidepressant, procognitive, synaptoplastic, and neurotrophic activities with doses of 40 mg and 80 mg daily being studied in clinical trials.
