PT-141 5mg | Bremelanotide
PT-141 5 mg (bremelanotide) could be a unique treatment for both male and female sexual dysfunction
What is PT-141 (Bremelanotide)
PT-141 is from the peptide hormone Melanotan II a sunless tanning agent.
Bremelanotide (PT-141) is a peptide analog of the neuropeptide hormone a-MSH (a-melanocyte-stimulating hormone
Recent findings indicated bremelanotide effect on sexual functions stimulated through melanocortin receptors in the brain.
Sexual dysfunction, including both penile erectile dysfunction or impotence and female sexual dysfunction, are common medical problems.
Significant effort has been devoted over the last twenty or more years to develop methods, devices, and compounds for the treatment of sexual dysfunction.
Scientists have determined that receptors for this class of molecules (melanocortin receptors) play a role in several behaviours including appetite and sexual arousal in men and women.
Initial clinical trials with Melanotan II did induce tanning and additionally caused sexual arousal and spontaneous erections as unexpected side effects in nine out of the ten original male volunteer test subjects.
The actual information about the peptide melanotan having effects of sexual arousal sudden erections was welcomed by researchers.
While more effort has been in the treatment of penile erectile dysfunction, female sexual dysfunction is also an area to which significant research and energy have been devoted.
At present, one commonly used orally administered drug for the treatment of sexual dysfunction in the male is Viagra®, a brand of sildenafil, which is a phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor.
A variety of treatments have also been explored for female sexual dysfunction, including use of sildenafil, although the Food and Drug Administration has not specifically approved such use.
Testosterone propionate has also been employed to increase or augment female libido.
PT-141 Study – Potential Use Erectile Dysfunction
Studies designed to explore the potential use of bremelanotide as a replacement for natural peptide melanocyte stimulating hormones for the sake of treating erectile dysfunction.
A study to determine the effects of bremelanotide stimulating sexual desire shown in males could be replicated in the brains of females.
To do this, a control group of female rats was compared to a test group that was known to have sexual disorders were treated with bremelanotide and introduced to a group of male rats prior to anticipated sexual activity, the reactions were then documented.
The stimulation of specific molecular markers within the brain was examined to determine arousal in the female subjects, sexual behaviours were assessed
Results indicated an increase in desire and decrease in failed mating.
Females saw an increase in sexual behaviour when PT-141 is used was applied suggesting a mechanism of action that leads to activated dopamine in the brain.
Further studies revealed that PT-141 was shown to be very useful in treating sexual dysfunction in both men (erectile dysfunction or impotence) and women (sexual arousal disorder).
Unlike Viagra and other related medications, PT-141 does not act upon the vascular system but directly increases sexual desire via the nervous system.
More study is needed to determine the extent of the effects of PT-141 on the brain and sexual motivation.
PT-141 peptide has made a revolution in the field of science of the human structure.
When made a deep verification of the compound structure of the chemical study showed the possibility of a change in the combination of the chemical structure.
Several other clinical trials remain to test the properties of PT-141 such as the increase in blood pressure, central nervous system safety and potential of nausea and vomiting.
